Battlemilk Volume 2

Battle Milk V2. Tangents & Transitions in Concept Art.

Battle Milk Volume 2 is the second art book project undertaken by Transit Creative. This one highlights the work of current and former concept artists who have all worked on the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated television series at Lucasfilm Animation. We could go on and on about the unbelievable talent of these concept artists, but thought it might be best to let them describe it. Here’s an excerpt from the book:

Why Battle Milk? The name was a tangent; a misinterpretation of a less ridiculous suggestion. As little sense as it made then, it makes perfect sense now. The title reflects our varied personalities and has now come to represent our very artistic diversity.

Battle Milk Volume 1 showcased the unique stylings of Kilian Plunkett, Thang Le, Wayne Lo, and Jackson Sze. This time around, fellow Lucasfilm Animation colleagues David Le Merrer and Le Tang were brought into the fold, bringing even more variety to the mix.

Battle Milk is a vehicle for us to stretch our creative muscles beyond the 9 to 6 workday. All the things we want to do as individuals take center stage, rather than conforming to an overall unified style. These pages are filled with work we are compelled to create, the things we are moved to utter. We hope you enjoy what we have to say.

The book can be purchased directly from the publisher, Design Studio Press. We’d like to endorse purchasing the book directly from the publisher in order to support independent art book publishing. But yes, it’s also available at Amazon or Barnes & Noble.
